Spotted this very young girl - probably 6 or 7 years old - trying out an iMac. It triggered me to think back to the days when I was her age. The personal computer wasn’t ‘born’ then; the first PC was unveiled some 43 years back while the Apple I computer was only born on 1 April 1976. Indeed, to the Baby Boomers and Golden Boomers, their toys were not as sophisticated as those we see today! We certainly didn’t play electronic games like the Gen Z kids of today’s Digital Age. During my younger days, many among us would immerse ourselves in comic heroes and what nots. What else did the Baby Boomers indulge in? Let me think and try to recall…

The SuperMoon as I saw it through my bedroom window this morning at 6.50am <Taken with Canon 50D + Tamron 28-300mm>
It was a beautiful start to the day with the bright SuperMoon peering through the still darken morning sky. It didn’t look any bigger than I’d expected - having read the the moon would pass by Mother Earth at a distance of 356,577 km (221,567 miles) on 19 March 2011, the closest pass in 18 years. Astrologers call this a lunar perigee; while a normal lunar perigee averages a distance of 364,397 km from Earth. Mōna (from which we derive ‘moon’ from the Old English dating before 735) probably looks usual or normal because of the earth distance from the equator plane.
Heaven forbid, I pray that we won’t see or experience a Bad Moon Rising as in the Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) song, that goes like this:
I see bad moon rising;
I see trouble on the way;
I see earthquakes and lightnin’;
I see bad times today.
While on the topic, did you read about Auckland-based mathematician Ken Ring’s prediction for coming earthquakes - bigger ones - this week? Something to do with the planetary alignment of Jupiter and Saturn with the Earth, the solar flares and the full moon’s gravitational pull as the trigger for the timing of the untoward events.
On Feb 14, controversial Mr Ring (a long-range weather forecaster who bases his predictions around sun, moon and activities) tweeted that “Potential earthquake time for the planet between 15th025th, especially 18th for Christchurch, +/- about 3 days”. The deadly 6.3 magnitude quake struck on Feb 24.
Apparently, Mr Ring also predicted the earlier 7.1-magnitude quake that hit Christchurch on Sept 3.

Although my grandpa was better known for his water colour paintings, he also used oil paint as a medium. The Woman - oil on board (35cm x 20cm) - was done in 1940; priced at RM25,000.

This beautiful piece is untitled (1953) is going for RM40,000. It depicts 3 workers unloading goods from a boat and I guess my grandpa probably painted it at one of the clan jetties along Weld Quay or the port area along Beach Street of the bygone days.
I had the opportunity to view these two pieces when the owners put them for sale in the secondary market. They are on display at an art gallery in KL.
Postscript - On March 19, spoke to Ms Kim Koh, owner of Metro Fine Art, who informed that the RM40,000 piece had been sold!
Whasup here? What are they reading?

For the past week, regular patrons of this restaurant have to find alternative places for their dim sum breakfast. Apparently, City Council officers came on March 1 to temporarily seal the premises for breaching various food hygiene regulations. The premises will be re-inspected on next week.

It’s a common sight to see hoards of customers patronizing the dim sum restaurants located along this road in PJ’s SS2.
