Friends and ex-colleagues of YC Chung (aka Chin) and his other half, Ee Mei, will be glad to know that their Coffee Ritual Cafe has relocated from its previous premises in Phileo Damansara to PJ’s Section 14, on the same street as TGIF. Just reopened for business a few days ago. And as Ei Mei […]

Previously, I’d mentioned about this Gerai Pak Soh 2. It is located about a kilometer from the Swiss-Garden Resort. It is popular for its sata (fish paste with grated coconut, chili and herbs wrapped in coconut leaf and grilled), otak-otak (fish paste wrapped in coconut leaf and grilled) and the chewy keropok lekor (fish paste […]

Yesterday (Sunday) I was real hungry when I got up in the morning. So for breakfast, I decided to go for something heavier than usual. Took a drive to Damansara Utama. My destination was Village Park Restaurant on Jalan SS21/37 - well known for its nasi lemak, mee siam and a host of local delights. […]

Recently, my brother Patrick treated us to a wonderful dinner at Overseas Restaurant on the 3rd floor of Menara PGRM, Cheras. This restaurant chain needs no introduction; it has been around for umpteen years. One of those “old brands”. Take a look below at what ordered. Dōmo arigatō, Pat.
Buttered Prawns (RM35)
Claypot Soft-Bone Pork Ribs (RM36). […]

The popiah was also a favourite among the diners. These […]

Funny Mountain, a brand name that has been around since 1952, needs no introduction - people flock to this little corner shop for its silky smooth tau foo fah and soya bean drink. And it’s well publicized by many a blogger.
Some people say that the mineral-rich water from the limestone hills that surround Ipoh, […]

Ipoh is well-known for its salt-baked herbal chicken. It seems that Aun Kheng Lim, located in Jalan Theater (on the opposite end of McDonald’s), is the ‘pioneer’. When I asked for the shop’s location and direction to get there, I was told there are 2 other shops selling salted chicken (or ayam garam). If I’m […]

Ipoh is, of course, famous for its gastronomic delights. Heading the list is Sar Hor Fun. A trip to this City of Bougainvillea is not complete without eating this noodle fare. Arriving in Ipoh at 11am we headed straight for Jalan Bijeh Timah, where ‘old brand name’ restaurants like Kedai Makanan Nam Heong, Kedai Kopi […]

During a recent weekend, the family went to Mid Valley Megamall and was looking for a place to dine when we spotted Amuleto by Crystal Jade. Decided to give the place a go. But sad to say, our experience (and that of a number of other diners too) that evening was, to say the least, […]
