Never Again @ Raju Restoran
Jun 2nd, 2010 by Steven
I mentioned in a previous blog of having breakfast at Raju’s, located on Jalan Chantek, of Jalan Gasing. Many customers make a beeline for the tables and chairs placed under shady trees beside its corner shoplot. That morning was my third time eating at Raju’s and the first for my wife … but alas she went away with a bitter after taste.
She ordered thosai while I chose roti canai which were served on banana leaves in double quick time. That’s because there were stacks of ready prepared roti. So, there was no oomph … the roti was dull and ’soggy’. But the big blow lied in the dhall, which was terribly salty. And the teh tarik was too sweet despite telling the waiter ‘kurang manis’. Talking about first impression! Well, can’t blame my wife if she doesn’t want to eat at Raju’s in future.
Surfing the web, I found that Raju’s has got mixed reviews for its banana leaf menu. Despite some not too favourable feedback, Raju’s has got good feng shui, drawing big crowds (including the rich and celebrities) especially during weekends and public holidays.

Full house!

A piece of thosai, roti canai and two glasses of teh tarik - RM5.20
