Dim Sum @ Ah Yat Abalone Restaurant
Dec 30th, 2009 by Steven
On Christmas morning, the family had breakfast at Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant on Jalan Kemajuan, Section 13, PJ. This was our first time at Ah Yat. The restaurant is part of the Ah Yat Abalone Restaurant chain founded by well-known Hong Kong chef Yeung Koon Yat, with branches in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Ah Yat is, of course, known for its abalone and shark fins menu.
Like many of the big dim sum places, the chefs at Ah Yat would prepare the dim sum after you have placed your order. This gives diners an opportunity to hold ‘table-talk’ over cups of Chinese tea before the dim sum are served.
Despite its name and reputation for Chinese fine dining, prices of its dim sum are reasonable. More importantly, one leaves satisfied with the food and service.
