Kuching Waterfront By Night
Dec 26th, 2009 by Steven
It’s Boxing Day … why is it called as such? Perhaps that’s the day when people open their Christmas boxes (gifts). Don’t think it’s a day where people throw punches at each other, haha.
OK, now for the serious stuffs … when in Kuching, the best place to be at night is certainly the Waterfront by the bank of Sungai Kuching. For photography buffs like yours truly, this is the place for night photography. I’d planned for some night shooting and kept my fingers crossed for good weather … it rained earlier that day I was in the Cat City. I took only my Tamron lens with its wider F/2.8 instead of the Canon 24-105mm with Image Stabilization. The Canon 50D was up to mark with its Digic IV CMOS processor even though I was shooting at ISO 1600 … the only thing I had to do was to keep a steady hand, using light poles and tree trunks for added support.

Serene reflection on the river … can’t recall the name of that hotel/service apartment beside Holiday Inn <Canon 50D: ISO 1600; F/5.6; 1/2 sec>

The metallic Hornbill Sculpture & Fountain with the Tua Pek Kong Temple in the mid section <Canon 50D: ISO 1600; F/5.6; 1/3 sec>

A view from the Riverside Majestic looking at the start of the Kuching Waterfront towards the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building in the background (opened in July 2009) <Canon 50D: ISO 1600; F/2.8; 0.6 sec>
