Topless Tourists @ Bangkok Floating Market
Dec 15th, 2009 by Steven

These Mat Salleh tourists were sort of sunbathing as they toured the floating market. Nope, didn’t spot any topless tourists of the fairer sex, haha
The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is one of Thailand’s most photographed tourist sites. Although there are a number of floating markets, this one is the most popular among tourists, being sited not far from Bangkok. It’s actually not in Bangkok as one has to make a 110-km trip. Being a tourist spot, prices are on the high side and bargaining is a must, even asking for a 50% discount can be rewarding. Also, the goods or products sold at this floating market are skewed towards the foreign tourists … so if you want to see more traditional or farm produce, be prepared to travel further to the less ‘touristy’ markets .
My wife and I took a half-day tour to this must-visit destination. If I recall correctly, it costs Baht 200-250 per pax for a 1/2-hour boat ride; more if you opt for a longer ride on the motorized boats. More photos in the coming days.
Lovers of James Bond movies may recall that one of the scenes on The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) was shot on location here, involving a boat chase along the khlong with Agent 007 in a souped-up longtail boat.
