Buddha’s toes at Wat Indrawiharn. The Buddha statue is the tallest in Bangkok, and maybe in the whole of Thailand, at 32 metres (105 feet). Relics of Lord Buddha are placed inside, at the top part.

According to our tour guide David, some 95% of Thailand’s population (estimated at 68 million) are Buddhists. In Bangkok alone, with its 11 million inhabitants, there are some 350-400 Buddhist temples; largely of the Theravada school.
So many temples, so little time to
So many temples, so little time here … so tourists usually visit the more popular ones. Wat Indrawiharn is one of the few temples included in most tour itineraries. It was erected during the rein of King Rama IV - better known as King Mongkut (1804-1868).

The tallest standing Buddha in Thailand … majestic except that it looks ‘flat’ given that it is supported by a wall at the rear.
