Teh Tarik vs Starbucks @ Cameron Highlands
Sep 26th, 2009 by Steven

The happening place in Tanah Rata is along its Main Road with its potpourri of restaurants, cafés, sundry shops and what-nots. One late afternoon found my wife and I sipping hot teh tarik (pull tea) at Restoran Sri Brinchang. We chose a table and chairs placed along the 5-foot walkway … just the ideal spot to watch people walked past and vehicles transfersing the Main Road.
Nearby - separated by an Indian barber shop - is the Seattle-originated Starbucks. My glass of down-to-earth teh tarik cost RM1.20. And come to think of it, I could have a few rounds of refills for the money I would have paid having a drink at Starbucks. Also, I was totally emersed in the cool, open-air environment and the surrounding.
PS - the Indian gentlemen seated in teh background is the owner of the barber shop … he was taking a break while waiting for customers.
