Understanding Our Parents’ Love

There is a particular mamak restaurant that I often patronize when I’m in the Taman Tun Dr Ismail neighbourhood for breakfast. But it’s not the roti canai and teh tarik that I look forward to. When I’m there I never fail to look at a blackboard hanging from the wall at the back of the premises. Written on it, in white chalk, is a quotation. There’s a different quotation every time I visit the place.
During my recent visit, it has this meaningful quotation by Henry W Beecher (1813-1887), an American clergyman …
We never know the love of our parents for us until we are parents ourselves
For a while. it set me pondering and reflecting on Mr Beecher’s words. What he observed is very true indeed. What do you think?
