Gathering of Yong Mun Sen’s Descendants
Apr 12th, 2009 by Steven

Yesterday - 11 April 2009 - was a grand day for the descendants of Yong Mun Sen (aka the Father of Malaysian Painting) and Lam Sek Foong (my grandma). For the first time in decades, 3 generations of the Yong family, together with their spouses and children, gathered at a grand reunion dinner in Petaling Jaya. Apart from those who are residing in Kuala Lumpur and PJ, my cousin Helen, who’s the founding partner of a leading architect consultancy firm in Singapaore, made the trip to Malaysia with her architect-husband Joseph. My aunty’s younger brother, Koh Cheng Min, who has a business in Shanghai, was back for a holiday and he joined us with his wife and daughter.
A few of the ‘younger’ Yongs, including my brother Patrick and Singapore-based cousin William, could not make it for the gathering. Even I blogged this posting, three of the third generation Yongs have been given the task of co-organizing the next gathering. Being the young ones, I’m sure they would plan for an exciting event.
BTW, the special occasion was presided by uncle Chu Hwa, who initiated the idea for the grand reunion dinner.
