More CNY Feasting
Feb 15th, 2009 by Steven
Chinese New Year was a time for gatherings and reunions. I won’t be surprised if some households indulged in 15 days of feasting, lol. Signifies prosperity!
My Uncle CH Yong hosted a dinner at Wang Chiew Restaurant in SS2, popular for its Hakka dishes. We started with the Yam Abacus (sorry, no pix; use your imagination to visualize the dish; there’s one restaurant at The Curve which serves this dish all year round)…the portion (at RM30 per plate) was terribly small. My uncle ordered two more plates but the staff apologized, saying the kitchen had no more ingredients. We had 2 plates of this roasted pork knuckle! Just the thing to down with the 2 bottles of Australian red wine - Shiraz and Merlot - that my uncle brought along for the occasion.

This was probably the most expensive dish - abalone, mushroom, etc @ RM150

Herbal chicken in claypot - the waiter emptied a bottle of chicken of essence into the soup
