Remembering Vietnam’s Uncle Ho

The Hồ Chi Minh Mausoleum and the HCM Museum are located in the Ba Dinh Square, not far from the One Pillar Pagoda

The HCM Mausoleum is where Uncle Ho rests on a black marble top within a glass-framed sarcophagus. It’s also the site where the late President proclaimed Vietnam’s independence on 2 Sept 1945, beginning his speech with “All men are created equal; they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights; among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness… .” (On the day we’re at the mausoleum, there was a state function; off limit to the public. So didn’t get to in and pay respect to the revered leader. Anyway, no cameras allowed inside.)

The Hồ Chi Minh Museum (Bến Nhà Rồng) displays materials that trace the role and contributions of Nguyễn Tất Thành aka Hồ Chí Minh during the struggle for Vietnam’s independence and during the Vietnam War
