Paying More for Segambut Seafood Mee
Mar 29th, 2008 by Steven
Restaurant Yu Ai - or popularly known as Segambut Seafood Mee - is well-known for its seafood noodles. Diners have a choice of clear soup, curry or tom yam. Apart from the main outlet on Jalan Segambut, they have a branch in PJ’s SS2 Chow Yang area. There used to be a branch in Sri Hartamas, which has since been closed.
When I was first introduced to Segambut Seafood Mee, it then cost RM10 for a small bowl. For that, you get a fairly large size bowl of noodle (or meehoon) with generous servings of fish slices, mussels, big prawns, squid, lala (clams), crabstick and seaweed. Add RM2 for a big bowl.
A year or two back, they increased the price to RM12 for a small bowl. Recently, I discovered I have to dig deeper into my pockets to enjoy the seafood noodles. It now costs RM15. And the portions are smaller. Guess it’s a sign of the times…rising cost of living.
