Breakfast at Killiney Kopitiam, S’pore
Dec 25th, 2007 by Steven

Having eaten at Killiney Kopitiam in PJ, we made it a point to visit the original Kopitiam in Sinapore when we we were there recently. It’s located along the busy Killiney Road. If taking the MRT, exit at the Somerset Station (NS23). Take the Orchard/Somerset entrance. It is then a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Kopitiam.
The original shop Xiong Xin He was founded in 1919. It was refurbished and renamed as Killiney Kopitiam in 1993 by its present owner. Back then, it served charcoal-toasted bread, and coffee and tea brewed the Hainanese way.

From one shop. the present owner has since expanded to more than 10 outlets in Singapore. There’s also a branch in Medan, and of course, two in Malaysia - in Damansara Utama and Mid Valley Megamall. Check out the locations at www.killiney-kopitiam.com/index.html

Nasi lemak packed in banana leaves. Comes with a piece of fried fish (S$1.50).

Mee Siam Rebus…not spicy but sweet and sour to taste.

The Curry Chicken is popular among diners. At S$5.50, it comes with a choice of either prata bread (aka roti canai) or toasted roti kosong.

Our gastronomic experience was not complete without trying the roti bakar.
