Countdown To 21.12.2012
Nov 4th, 2007 by Steven
The great Mayan society once inhabited a region covering southern Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. No one really knows why the Mayan civilization, which flourished between the 3rd and 10th centuries AD, mysteriously disappeared from the face of earth without a trace circa 1200 AD.

In the late 18th century, explorers came upon fabulous temples, plazas, monoliths and pyramids in the dense Guatemalan rainforest. The structures were decorated with pictures and hieroglyphs. They also found stone monuments with a mix of ideographic and phonetic elements, detailing historical records of Mayan events. Historians say that subsequent descendants, who lived in the area, and who spoke the Mayan language, were unaware of the ancient Mayan cities their forefathers had built.
The ancient Maya were not only great historians, they were also great astrologers who’re able to study the precise movements of planets and stars without the aid of the modern-day instruments that we know. They could the solar year very precisely, in fact, more precisely than in the Julian calendar. More importantly, the calendar they left behind described the present earth cycle from 11 August 3114 BC to 21 December 2012.
Friday, 21 Dec 2012 is another 1,874 days from today. It coincides with the Winter Solstice. A galactic phenomenon will also take place on that date - for the first time in 26,000 years, our Solar System will be in exact alignment with our galaxy, the Milky Way.
Why does the Mayan calendar end on 21 Dec 2012? Is it a prediction of the end of the world? Does it spell the occurrence of a global catastrophic event? Or does it signal a global meltdown in financial markets. Some say the day is connected with aliens (when extraterrestrial beings invade Earth).
Or perhaps, that eventful day marks the start of a New Beginning for Mankind – an Evolution? Indeed, many religious communities are expecting the emergence of a ‘World Teacher’ - Maitreya - to lead and guide mankind on the road to a holistic resurgence. Will this World Teacher appear on 21 Dec 2012?
Well, we’ve to wait and see - the truth is out there.
