Food Galore At PJ Section 14 Pasar Ramadan
Sep 29th, 2007 by Steven

The Ramadan bazaars are a fascinating sight. Unlike the pasar malam (night markets), the stalls at the pasar Ramadan sell varieties of mouth-watering Malay food and drinks.
When I dropped by the Ramadan bazaar in Section 14 Petaling Jaya after 5pm recently, the bazaar was in full swing. The aromatic whiff of food (and smoke) filled the air as I walked past the stalls. You can find different types of nasi lemak, kuih-muih, ikan bakar, satay, and so on. It was like a food carnival.
Some food vendors were busy cooking food as patrons snapped up their hot-from-the-stove food. Some were calling out to potential customers. While the majority of their customers were Muslims, some non-Muslims - college students and probably ‘migrant’ office workers who probably don’t cook dinner but eat out for practical reason - were seen buying from the stalls.
I read that that there’re 89 stalls at the Section 14 bazaar. I plan to check out the bigger bazaar in Taman Tun Dr Ismail one of these days. Meanwhile, here are some photos taken at the Section 14 bazaar.

The popiah basah was really selling like hot cakes

This ikan bakar stall, which offered various types of fish, was equally popular
