Did Keng Yaik Oppose Accepting NameWee’s Apology?

It appears that it was Dato’ Sri Dr Lim Keng Yaik who had disagreed with the MCA’s initiative to accept Wee Meng Chee’s apology and instead spoke out for court action to be taken against the Taiwan-based university undergraduate for his Negaraku rap parody video clip posted on YouTube.
And who let the cat out of the bag? It’s none other than Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin. According to Jeff Ooi, in his blog posted on Screenshots yesterday, the minister had apparently “got too excited and exposed some details of what went on during the Cabinet meeting (on Aug 15). ZAM was quoted by the editor (from The Star), who read the news filed in the system by his reporters, as having said:
Siapa yang mahukan Wee dikenakan tindakan selepas dia minta maaf? Bukan UMNO. Bukan MCA…Gerakan!
By ‘Gerakan’, ZAM was referring to Dr Lim as he’s the only Gerakan representative in the Cabinet. Realizing his slip of the tongue, the Information Minister later tried to retract his expose – the media was directed to spike the story. However, Sin Chew Jit Poh had by then run the news in its evening edition.
The million dollar question is, what’s the reason for Dr Lim’s disagreement with the MCA’s initiative? That is, if he’s one who’d pressed for Wee to face court action.
