Adieu, My Friends, Adieu
Jul 28th, 2007 by Steven
Yesterday (27 July) we bid farewell to another 2 colleagues – Kar Yen and Joanne Low – who’re embarking on new journeys. Kar Yen is our HR and Admin Manager; Joanne is an executive with the Content Development Department.
Joanne (left) joined us last year and is moving on for greener pastures. KY is a long-serving staff who joined IBBM way back in Feb 1989 as the Registrar before assuming her HR portfolio in 1992. She’s served under the tenure of 3 chief executives, and has decided to retire to move to a new, uncharted territory.
The entire office staff converged in the dining room after 5 for the farewell party, A surprise ‘guest’ at the function was Dee Peng, an ex-manager who’d resigned in June 2006 to answer an inner calling to serve the community. She’s a very close buddy of Kar Yen.
The function kicked off with CEO Dr Kamal Khir giving a speech. He had us in stitches when he spoke of the time when KY approached him to sign a letter to reprimand a staff who had reported late for work 3 times during a certain month. It turned out that the letter addressed to KY herself!
It was a simple but memorable party. Apart from the presentation of gifts, farewell hugs and photo-taking, Angela took to the mike to render a song.
