Acting Out One’s Fantasy

Guys, check out more of Sherwinsm’s photos like the ones posted here at Flickr.com, which were taken at the ‘Cosplay VI – Golden Experience’ held in Singapore earlier this month. It’s one of the biggest gatherings of cosplayers and fans outside its birthplace,
According to the Wikipedia, cosplay – short for ‘costume’ and ‘role-play’ – is a “Japanese subculture centered on dressing up as characters from manga, anime, tokusatsu, and video games, and, less commonly, Japanese live action television shows, fantasy movies, or Japanese pop music bands”.
Age is no barrier to being a cosplayer. The community comprises people from practically all age groups – pre-teens, teenagers and adults. And from all walks of life – students, engineers, lawyers and even police officers. If you fancy cosplaying, then jump into the bandwagon and transform into your favourite character. Real cool, huh! But be warned…those with elderly parents will probably frown and shake their heads in disbelief, complaining that you ‘have not grown up’.
Cosplaying can be an expensive pursuit. Depending on how elaborate it is, it can cost a bomb to design and make a costume.
Now, imagine me…yes, me…being a cosplayer. Hmmm, which character or action hero should I select? Anyone knows of cosplay club in Kuala Lumpur?
